I have been teaching Pilates since 2013, successfully working with clients who want to rehabilitate after injury or operation, through to athletes who want to improve their performance.
It’s a movement practice for everyone!
My Pilates Story
I trained with the Body Control Pilates (BCP) Association because it is Europe’s foremost professional Pilates organisation setting the standard for Pilates teaching.
Its mission is to bring the benefits of this exercise method to everyone. Their training programme is based closely on Joseph Pilates’ original teaching combined with our current knowledge about biomechanics. Exercises are taught in a progressive way to make them more accessible to the average (and not so average!) body, enabling teachers to address special populations such as people who want to heal specific issues, through to enhancing and supporting sports performance.
Body Control Pilates is a world leader in training Pilates teachers. Their initial mat work teacher training is probably the most comprehensive qualification of its kind available, and many Pilates teachers from other organisations come and retrain with BCP. As qualified teachers we must work to a strict Code of Practice and undertake continuous professional development in order to be fully conversant with the latest methods of teaching Pilates and good movement practice.
